The Master of Education (M.Ed., Ed.M., M.A.Ed., or M.S.Ed.) is a postgraduate academic masters degree awarded by universities in a large number of countries. This degree in education often includes majors like - curriculum and instruction, counseling, and administration. The Master of Education is a degree awarded by institutions of higher education, usually, though not always, for educators advancing in their field. In most states a Masters degree or higher is required for the post of a principal or school counselor.
There are true leaders in education who have overcome the traditional ways of hierarchical thinking and have developed transformational and collaborative orientations. They accomplished this in spite of the fact that our school system does not support these foci. As part of the educational system, the Bachelor of Education program contributes to the development of this type of leadership in its students.
